Wells Fargo Housing Foundation Team Members Help a Low-Income Veteran
Thank you to the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation who awarded $15,000 to Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys and volunteered in revitalizing the home of a low-income veteran in Pacoima on May 11, 2017 as part of the revitalization of 61 such homes built by our Habitat affiliate as an Enriched Neighborhood®.
Over 25 Wells Fargo Team Members answered the call for volunteers to help power wash and paint the exterior of this veteran’s home. Wells Fargo Housing Foundation carries out volunteering efforts like these though its Team Member Volunteer Program. The program provides financial support to eligible non-profit housing organizations when team members volunteer to help build, renovate, paint, or repair a home for low-to-moderate income homebuyer or homeowners.
“Wells Fargo is proud to support Habitat for Humanity SFV with a $15,000 grant from our Team Member Volunteer program, whenever team members help build, renovate, paint or repair homes for low-to-moderate income families, Veterans & Seniors,” said Jack Olree, Vice President – Community Relations Senior Consultant.
This neighborhood was completed five years ago, but we make consistent efforts to keep our neighborhoods looking good. By helping with the revitalization and cosmetic upkeep, the Homeowners Association for these low-income families can focus on structural maintenance such as roofs, pavement and other necessities to maintain their homes in safe and functioning order. While this Habitat and its sister organization Homes 4 FamiliesTM have helped to improve the families’ economic circumstances by providing low-cost home ownership and training programs, the families may not have extra funds to paint their homes and perform routine exterior repairs.
The Enriched Neighborhood® model created by Homes 4 FamiliesTM and implemented by this Habitat affiliate is unique among non-profit low-income housing organizations in that this Habitat does not just provide a home but remains engaged with the families who own them, providing ongoing revitalizations such as this, as well as other social services and programs including training in financial management, home maintenance and trauma informed workshops, some of which are specific to veterans and their families who experience unique challenges.
Thank you to the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and to all of its volunteers who work to improve low-income communities!
