A solar power firm installed panels Thursday on 26 homes in the Centre Pointe area of the Santa Clarita Valley being built exclusively to house veterans and their families.
Phase one of the project by the San Fernando-Santa Clarita chapter of Habitat for Humanity and the California Department of Veteran Affairs is nearing completion.
Seven work crews from SolarCity installed hundreds of panels Thursday on the roofs of 26 of the homes. Each will sport 10 to 12 solar panels to supply a majority of the homes’ electricity needs.
The installation was completed in one day Thursday.
The full project will feature 78 homes built on 23 acres off Centre Pointe Parkway.
