Have you heard of The Vet Hunters Project?
The Vet Hunters Project encourages people to think about what they can do in the service of others. No matter your location, age, or income, you have some resource, knowledge, or ability that can be used to help someone else. The Vet Hunters Project revolves around the idea that social change starts on the individual level, and that helping even one veteran can lead to change in an entire community.
As you probably know, Los Angeles is currently facing a homelessness crisis. The County and City are currently undergoing major efforts to help house their citizens through initiatives like Measure H. However, it takes the efforts of affordable housing providers and volunteer groups like the Vet Hunters to find these individuals and provide them with the services and support they need to become successful. More importantly, and the key to the Vet Hunter’s mission is that these veterans be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.
Joe Leal, the passionate President and Founder of the all-volunteer Vet Hunters Project, said his goal is to “honor the fallen by serving the living.”
We love being able to highlight some of the great work other organizations are doing for our veterans and for our community. Hopefully, with help from the Vet Hunters, some of these formerly homeless veterans can one day become homeowners!
