Thanks to the community’s support of our Habitat ReStore through donations and sales, we at Habitat San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys are able to help our nation’s veterans move out of homelessness and into apartments for the first time. It is our honor to introduce you to US Army Combat Veteran Steven Faucett. Steven was laid off from his job at Best Buy in 2012 and struggled to find employment. Last year Steven found himself homeless and lacking the means to maintain his basic needs. Steven also has no cartilage in his knees and suffers from extreme pain in his legs. The VA recently declared Steven permanently disabled and he now receives full disability benefits, which helped him secure an apartment. Through a partnership with the LA County Department of Mental Health’s VALOR program, the Habitat ReStore was able to donate furniture and home goods to furnish his entire apartment. Steven is now focused on getting the surgery he needs to address his knee condition. After he recovers from his operation, he’s excited to become a volunteer at our ReStore and give back to his fellow veterans.
Sadly, there are thousands of other veterans just like Steven who need our help. Are you ready to serve the men and women who have so courageously served for us? Make a 100% tax-deductible contribution today!
You can also serve by volunteering at the Habitat ReStore, located at 9606 DeSoto Avenue in Chatsworth. Contact us at Volunteer@HumanityCA.org to sign up!
