This month Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV would like to recognize two outstanding volunteers who spend many hours at our Habitat for Humanity ReStore: John Reynolds and Joey Ristine!
John has been volunteering with Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV for over 8 months, he first heard about Habitat through his nephew’s school, Taft High School, and their community service program. John loves working in the store, he loves all of the different people he meets and getting to know the area while helping the ReStore truck drivers do pick-ups around North Los Angeles County.
John has also volunteered at several of the build sites, helping our Site Supervisor, Steve Mercado with everything from carpentry, to painting to masonry. John loves volunteering and hopes that he can be a volunteer here, or wherever he is living for the “rest of his life”!
Thank you John!
Joey has been volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore for over 10 months. He comes in on a regular basis to assist with stocking, organizing and sales.
He recommends volunteering in the ReStore to anyone in need of service hours, experience for job applications, or just a fun activity that also benefits others.
“Helping veterans, low-income families and customers makes you feel good,” says Joey.
It is also a great place for youth without job experience to come and learn new skills, volunteers as young as 14 can volunteer at the store.
“You gain a lot of experience that you can’t really get until you actually have a job, which in turn will help you get a job,” says Joey, “I’ve learned customer service skills, stocking skills, and organization skills.” “It will also help me when I put my volunteer work on my resume.”
Thank you Joey!
