On Saturday, July 18th, 26 Veteran families will be receiving keys to their very own homes. Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV and the California Department of Veterans Affairs will be handing out keys to Phase 1 homeowners in the Santa Clarita Enriched Neighborhood® in a day which will include an art show, children’s activities, a performance from the SCV Men of Harmony and a ceremony including local and state level dignitaries and other honored guests.
The Santa Clarita Enriched Neighborhood® is a 78-home community for low-income Veteran families. These first 26 families will be moving into the completed Phase 1 homes. Phases 2 and 3 are scheduled to be completed in 6 months and 12 months, respectively. The community will also include a community gardens and playground for the children.
The 26 families moving into these Phase1 homes have all completed the required 500 hours of sweat equity and enrichment classes such as financial training and My T.I.M.E. (Trauma Informed Military Enrichment) workshops. These classes are designed to give these families to tools and knowledge to succeed in their new homeownership and move their way up into the middle class.
We invite you to join us!
