Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/ Santa Clarita Valley is grateful for the generous support of The Home Depot Foundation and TEAM DEPOT who are making a significant difference at our Santa Clarita Enriched Neighborhood®.
The Home Depot Foundation has generously contributed $300,000 to support our unique model that is the only community in the nation to provide homeownership to very-low income veteran families in a neighborhood context that also provides “wrap-around” social services free of charge to the families. This support is symbolic in demonstrating the value of public-private partnerships and their successful outcomes.
The mission of Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV is to lift low income working civilian and veteran families in North Los Angeles County out of substandard housing and offer them a gateway to the American Dream of home ownership so they can build brighter economic futures. We are proud to collaborate with the California Department of Veterans Affairs in designing the first of its kind affordable home ownership coupled with “wrap around services” that include: Credit Counseling, Financial Literacy Classes, PTSD and Military Sexual Trauma Workshops, Equine Therapy, Trauma Informed Art Workshops, Employment & Life Skills, Parenting Skills, and more. The model’s comprehensive continuum of care ensures our veterans thrive and optimally reintegrate. Furthermore, by forming partnerships and networks for engagement throughout the community with reputable and generous organizations such as The Home Depot Foundation, we are able to have a greater impact on the lives of the people we serve.
The Home Depot, in partnership with The Home Depot Foundation, focuses its philanthropic efforts on improving the homes and lives of U.S. military veterans and their families. Through Team Depot, the Company’s associate-led volunteer force, thousands of associates dedicate their time and talents in the communities where they live and work. Since 2011, The Home Depot Foundation has invested more than $105 million to provide safe housing to veterans, and with the help of Team Depot, has transformed more than 22,000 homes for veterans.
This generous contribution from The Home Depot Foundation will make a long lasting impact on those we serve by providing the critical funding for new construction that accommodates our veteran home owners’ unique needs in their home environment.
Thank you Home Depot Foundation for giving us the necessary funding to ultimately serve those who have generously served our country.
