Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV and the families that we serve are beyond grateful to The Home Depot Foundation who has contributed an additional $300,000 to our Santa Clarita Enriched Neighborhood® for veterans and their families!
Last April, 2016 through June, 2016, four different Team Depot groups helped to finish our Phase 2 homes in time for move-in later that fall. Thanks so their contribution and their skilled volunteers, 28 veterans and their families were able to move into the neighborhood. Their new grant will help to complete the third and final phase of this 78-home neighborhood as we move towards our upcoming projects in Palmdale and North Hollywood.
The mission of Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV to build affordable homes for low-income civilian and veteran families, and provide services that empower them to build brighter futures as homeowners. Through our Enriched Neighborhood® Model, which was developed by our sister agency Homes for Families, and piloted by Habitat SF/SCV, we couple affordable home ownership for veterans with wraparound services that include: Credit Counseling, Financial Literacy Classes, Trauma-Informed Art and Music Workshops, Equine Therapy, Employment & Life Skills, Parenting Skills, a Mentorship program, tutoring, educational programming for military children, and more. By partnering with reputable and generous organizations such as The Home Depot Foundation, we are able to exponentially have a greater impact on the lives of the people we serve.
This generous contribution from The Home Depot Foundation will make a long lasting impact on veterans and their families by providing the critical funding for new construction that accommodates our veteran home owners’ unique needs in their home environment. The contribution will also help the surrounding community by giving our nation’s heroes a chance and place to heal, grow, and thrive.
Thank you Home Depot Foundation for giving us the necessary funding to ultimately serve those who have generously served our country.
