Douglas Hood served in the U.S. Army from 1998 to 2014. During his service he deployed and was stationed overseas. When he returned home, he was unable to find a job and had nowhere to call home. He spent some time staying with friends, but eventually found himself with nowhere to go, no possessions and no money. He had no idea what services he was entitled to, and did not know who to turn to for help.
Eventually, he found the VALOR program, which helped him get the benefits he was entitled to. They also helped his secure an apartment of his own. He finally had a place to call home, however, he had no furniture or household items to go in his new apartment. That’s where the Habitat SF/SCV Restore came in. The Chatsworth ReStore provided everything from towels and housewares to furniture, to get Douglas settled.
Douglas told us that is has been a long time… but he can finally say he is home!
