Burbank, CA – Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys and Flappers Comedy Club come together to produce a Celebrity Comedy Fundraiser to raise funds for the victims of the Japanese Earthquake. The Celebrity Comedy Fundraiser will take place at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank, CA this Tuesday March 22nd at 8:00pm, for a suggested donation of $20.00. To generate additional revenue for the cause, a Live Auction and Prize Raffles will be held. In addition to a Special Surprise Celebrity guest, local comedians such as Paul Ogata, KT Tatara, Tony Baker, Samuel J Comroe, Bil Dwyer and more will also perform in the Fundraiser.
On Friday March 11, 2011. A deadly 9.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan, the resulting aftershocks and tsunami destroyed homes, vehicles and entire towns. Thousands of people were killed and thousands are still missing. Habitat for Humanity is assessing the damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and is working with government authorities and other organizations to determine how best we can help. Our immediate response, in the short-term, includes Habitat for Humanity’s mobilizing volunteers in Japan to work with other organizations in the initial cleanup and relief operation. Flappers Comedy LLC is operated by a group of people who are passionate about comedy and fundraising. Flappers Comedy Club Burbank features a 1920’s theme and is “Still Celebrating the Repeal of Prohibition”. The main showroom seats 225 and features major comedy headliners from around the country. The club also has a smaller showroom, “The Yoo Hoo Room” which has 50 seats. The Flappers Bar & Patio is open for dining 6:00pm-1:00am and has a small stage and seats about 60 people.
Proprietors, Barbara Holliday and Dave Reinitz, are dedicated to the community and have opened up the club on Tuesday Nights as a opportunity help give back, by working with local community organizations to raise funds for causes. In addition to Flappers Comedy Club Burbank, they also operate the Flappers Comedy Club in Claremont, CA. The comedy production and booking arm of the company, H2F Comedy Productions, has been working with NACA and local comedy clubs, booking talent across the country for over 15 years. Since they began producing live comedy stage shows in 1996, the organization has established its commitment to comedy as an art form and is a leader in the L.A. comedy scene.
