Creating homes and community for veteran families through the power of diversity and collaboration

A Colorful Day of Service and Impact
Last September, the Palmdale desert witnessed something remarkable. Despite challenging weather conditions, volunteers from all walks of life came together for Homes 4 Families’ 6th Annual Rainbow Build—an inspiring day that embodied the true meaning of community service and inclusion.
The Rainbow Build is a unique event that unites corporations, veterans, and the LGBTQA+ community in a common mission: building resiliency, economic growth, neighborhoods, and most importantly, homes for veteran families who have served our country.
What We Accomplished
The determined volunteers who braved the weather conditions helped advance the construction of six new homes in Phase 5 of the Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood®. Their contributions were substantial and varied:
- Construction of a community garden arbor
- Building of fences for family homes
- Landscaping and planting
- Critical framing work on multiple homes
These efforts weren’t just about construction—they were about creating spaces where veteran families can heal, grow, and build new lives after service.
A Milestone Achievement
We’re thrilled to share that the framing for all six homes in Phase 5 of the Palmdale Veteran Enriched Neighborhood® is now officially complete! This represents a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to provide affordable, sustainable housing for veterans.
Since the Rainbow Build, work has continued at a steady pace. The construction team has completed rough electrical and plumbing installations, and by the end of the week, all roofing and windows will be fully installed—bringing these homes one step closer to welcoming their veteran families.
The Rainbow Build Difference
What makes Rainbow Build special isn’t just what we build, but how we build it. This event embodies the principle that when diverse communities join forces—bringing different perspectives, skills, and experiences—we create something stronger than any one group could achieve alone.
This philosophy mirrors the strength found in military units, where people from all backgrounds unite for a common purpose. At Rainbow Build, that purpose is creating safe, stable homes for those who have served.
