Saturday, April 20, Anheuser Busch came out with over 20 volunteers to help build the Sylmar veteran community alongside two of the future homeowners, Jose Castillo and Manuel Montenegro. Both post 9/11 Veterans will be moving into 2 of the 12 new homes for veteran families less than a year from now.
Now finished with the retaining wall, Anheuser Busch is looking forward to sponsoring the community again this summer with a ¼ house sponsorship, and coming out to the community for a third time to frame walls on the two story, 4 bedroom homes.
Anheuser Busch came out last October, when the construction was just under way and started the retaining wall they finished last Saturday. Anheuser was excited to meet two of the future homeowner, Castillo, who will be moving in with his son and mother, and Montenegro, who will be moving in with his wife and three children.
Both Castillo and Montenegro are excited to move into the veteran-specific community. On Saturday, both were reviewing the neighborhood plans with Anheuser Busch and started to imagine and plan their children’s future birthday parties and block parties at the community park.
Humanity SF/SCV would like to say thank you Anheuser Busch for making Jose and Manuel’s dreams of homeownership and a safe place for their children to play come true.
