Anheuser-Busch helped frame the Hernandez family’s home on Saturday Sept. 9 in Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valley’s 12-home Habitat Enriched Neighborhood® for veterans in Sylmar, CA.
This will be the very first home for the Hernandez family. Efrain and Valerie, both Army Reserve veterans, and their three daughters are currently living in cramped quarters and are looking forward to having a place of their own with reasonable mortgage payments they can afford and a safe community for their children to play.
As ¼ home American Dream team sponsors of the Sylmar Habitat for Heroes neighborhood, Anheuser- Busch will come out four times this year to help build the four bedroom/three bath homes in this community. Alongside the Hernandez family Anheuser-Busch will also help build homes for the McGarry family, a single mother, who served in combat in Korea with the Air Force, and the Castillo family, a single father who currently lives in a small apartment with his son and mother, who has always dreamed of living in a home instead of an apartment.
Veteran families in this community will pay no more than 35% of their monthly income for mortgage payments, insurance, taxes, HOA dues, and water. They will complete 500 of “Sweat Equity” to earn their home and will also participate in Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV’s enrichment services program that teaches life and self-sufficiency skills to the families as early as 12 months before and up to 24 months after move in.
