On Friday, February 26, 2016, Habitat for Humanity, San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys will present the 2016 Hammer of Hope Award at our annual Builder’s Ball Gala. This year we will be honoring Anheuser-Busch and Doreen Shine. Both of our 2016 honorees have played integral roles in our mission to provide affordable homes for low-income families in North Los Angeles County.
Over the last few years, Anheuser-Busch has provided a great amount of necessary funding, as well as a helping hand with groups of volunteers coming out to show their support and get their hands dirty on our build sites. The volunteer and philanthropic forces of Anheuser-Busch have been led by none other than Luis Cayo, Senior General Manager of the Los Angeles Brewery. Administrator Flory Giesseman brings teams together and supports our veterans at every turn. Our mission would not be attainable without their hard work and continued support.
Doreen Shine has been a part of our Habitat family for many years and in many capacities. She plays a critical role, serving as the Family Selection Committee Chair. In that role, she has helped to shape the futures of literally hundreds of families. She oversees and personally conducts visits at the homes of families who’ve applied for our program; making sure those who need it most get a home. In past years, she also has served as the event chair for the Builder’s Ball, helping to create a wonderful evening to raise funds and celebrate our honorees and organization. Our families and our organization are most appreciative of all of Doreen’s hard work over the years—and look forward to many more successful years with her at the helm of the family selection committee.
The Hammer of Hope Award was created to recognize community leaders who have helped forward our organization’s mission. Those who have received this award have had an extraordinary impact on improving access to quality affordable housing in North Los Angeles County.
